The F 458 (Ferrari 458 Italia) appeared for the first time at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. One thing that sets the 458 apart from other cars is that it´s engine has direct fuel injection.

There is a prefill function in the brakes that has the pistons move the brake pads to contact with the discs in order to minimize the delay in break application.

With the help of ABS a 100-0 km/h / 62-0 mph break has a distance of 32.5 meters or 107 feet. A top speed of over 325 km/h and 0-100km/h (62mph)in less than 3.4 seconds are two other things that set the 458 apart from other cars.

In a drag race against the Ferrari F430 on the television show Top Gear the F458 was able to win by a large margin.

The body is aerodynamic and produces a down force of 140 kg at 124 mph (200km/h). The company Pininfarina designed the body along with other recent Ferrari models.

There is also a diffuser made of strong carbon. These along with deformable winglets in the front grille that lower at high speeds reduce drag dramatically.

The Ferrari 458 also features front wings made of carbon. The shape of the car was created after tests in a wind tunnel. The air curves around the cabin to the tail spoiler.

All of this supports the diffuser that creates massive amounts of down force. Michael Schumacher a famous Ferrari Formula 1 driver helped design the interior.

He also had a lot of input in putting many of the dashboard controls directly on the steering wheel.

There is also a sub Window Cosmetic Shield as well as underbody shields that are made of carbon.

At a look closer you will not only notice the aerodynamics of the F458 but that it has fog light covers, lock covers, fuel filler flap, outer door handles, and exterior mirrors made out of carbon fibers.
